Rebecca Mayo, Bound by Gorse (Ulex europaeus), 2017
Contribution:
Design and fabrication of a bespoke hydraulic brick press for Rebecca’s gorse-brick production.
Rebecca’s work considers the flow of introduced species, brought over by European settlers for hedging and fencing. Specifically her involvement in the removal of these plants from the Merri Creek catchment area, and within the shifting practices and legacies of boundaries and containment, that plants like gorse continue to embody.
