Jen Berean and James Carey, Soft Grates, 2026

Contribution: Design and construction of hidden fixings to support copper panel.

Jen and James’ Soft Grates was created for the Judy Wheeler Commission at Perth Institute of Contemporary Art (PICA). The work invites contemplation about how institutions mark time and hold memory through the presence of water. The work includes a copper sheet that records the dollar value of PICA’s annual water bill.
